Terms of Service

1. The Service

Astova helps you track vehicle maintenance, look up recalls, get AI-assisted diagnoses from photos and sounds, follow guided do-it-yourself (DIY) repairs, analyze repair quotes, and find or book repair shops. Features may change, and we may add, modify, or discontinue parts of the Service.

2. Eligibility & your account

• You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) to use the Service.
• You are responsible for your account credentials and for all activity under your account. Keep your password secure and notify us of any unauthorized use.
• You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it up to date.

3. AI diagnosis is guidance, not professional advice

Astova’s photo, audio, and quote features use artificial intelligence to provide informational estimates and triage only. They are not a substitute for inspection or repair by a qualified, licensed mechanic. AI output can be incomplete or wrong, and phone cameras and microphones have real limitations. Do not rely on a Astova result for any safety-critical decision. Always confirm urgent or safety-related findings with a professional before driving or performing work.

4. DIY repair guidance & assumption of risk

The DIY Repair Guide provides general informational guidance for a limited set of routine jobs. It is not professional mechanical advice. Working on a vehicle involves real risks — including injury and property damage. You are solely responsible for assessing whether a repair is within your skill level, for using the correct tools and safety equipment, and for performing any work safely. If at any point you are unsure, stop and take your vehicle to a qualified mechanic. By using the DIY features you acknowledge and voluntarily accept these risks.

5. Repair shops & third-party services

The Service may help you find, get estimates from, or book third-party repair shops (for example through RepairPal). Those shops and services are independent third parties. Astova does not perform repairs, does not employ or endorse any shop, and is not responsible for the quality, price, safety, or outcome of any work you arrange. Any agreement for services is between you and the shop.

6. Affiliate links & parts

Astova may show links to parts and retailers (for example Amazon, AutoZone, and Advance Auto Parts). Some links are affiliate links, and Astova may earn a commission from purchases made through them, at no extra cost to you. We do not guarantee the fit, quality, price, or availability of any third-party product; verify that a part is correct for your vehicle before purchasing.

7. Subscriptions & payments

• Some features may require a paid subscription (“Pro”). Pricing and included features are shown at the point of purchase.
• Payments are processed by our payment processor (Stripe). Subscriptions renew automatically until canceled; you can cancel at any time and access continues through the end of the paid period.
• Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable. Fees may change with notice.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Break the law or infringe others’ rights while using the Service.
• Attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, scrape, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems.
• Upload content you don’t have the right to share, or misuse another person’s vehicle or personal information.
• Resell or exploit the Service or its AI outputs in a way these Terms don’t permit.

9. Your content

You keep ownership of the content you add (vehicle details, photos, recordings, notes). You grant Astova a limited license to store and process that content solely to operate the Service for you, as described in the Privacy Policy. You are responsible for the content you submit.

10. Intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design, and branding, is owned by Astova and protected by law. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for its intended purpose. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any diagnosis, estimate, or guidance will be accurate or complete.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Astova and its owners, employees, and suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, vehicle damage, or personal injury, arising from or related to your use of (or inability to use) the Service, the AI outputs, DIY guidance, or any third-party shop or product. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or USD $50.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Astova harmless from claims, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your content, your violation of these Terms, or any repair or purchase you choose to make.

14. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service or other users. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (for example ownership, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) will survive.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that the state and federal courts located in Ohio will have jurisdiction over any dispute not resolved informally.

16. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above; continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
