Privacy Policy

Information we collect

• Account information. Your email address, used to create and secure your account.
• Vehicle information. Details you add about your vehicles — VIN, year/make/model, mileage, service history, and any photos you choose to upload.
• Diagnosis inputs. Photos and audio recordings you submit for a diagnosis. These are used to generate a result and are processed by our AI provider; the app stores the diagnosis result. Audio recordings are kept in a private, access-controlled storage bucket tied to your account.
• Location & trips. If you enable automatic trip detection, the app uses your device location to record drives (start/end points, distance, route) so your mileage and schedule stay accurate. Location processing for place names happens on your device.
• Payment information. If you subscribe, payments are handled by our payment processor (Stripe). We do not store your full card details.
• Usage analytics. Aggregated, privacy-respecting product analytics (e.g., which features are used) to improve the app. We do not sell your personal information.

How we use your information

• Provide core features: maintenance schedules, recall lookups, AI diagnosis, DIY guides, shop search and booking, and trip tracking.
• Send you reminders and notifications you’ve enabled.
• Operate, secure, and improve the service.
• Process subscriptions and, where applicable, connect you with repair shops or parts you choose.

Service providers we share data with

We share the minimum data needed with trusted providers that help us run Astova:

• Supabase — authentication, database, and file storage.
• Anthropic — AI processing of diagnosis inputs and guide generation.
• Stripe — subscription billing.
• RepairPal — when you search for or book a repair shop, relevant details are shared to return estimates and complete a booking.
• NHTSA — public recall lookups by vehicle.
• Amazon — parts suggestions may include affiliate links; we may earn a commission.
• Push delivery and analytics providers to send notifications and measure usage.

Data retention & security

Your data is protected by per-user access controls so that only you (and the services acting on your behalf) can access your records. We retain your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete a vehicle or your account at any time, which removes the associated records.

Your choices

• Turn location and notifications on or off in your device settings.
• Delete individual vehicles, photos, or your entire account.
• Request a copy of your data or ask us to delete it by contacting us.

Children

Astova is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
